Hi.

I like to write about whatever comes to my mind. Whether that is visiting an abandoned house, or reading a good book, I like to talk. So, chat with me here about what you like! And welcome.

Bacon Butter Pasta Sauce

Sorry about the lack of posting yesterday.  And sorry that this one is going to be a mish mash of many things!

First I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been leaving comments and reading this blog! I have not been able to read them but my phone dings me whenever I get a new comment, so I know they are there and I am really excited to read them!! This not being able to read thing is killing me.  I find myself signing in to my blogger dashboard and my mouse will hover over your list of posts and I have to fight with myself not to use my index finger to just click and read.  It would be so easy!  I guess I just wanted to say that I can't wait to read what you guys have been writing about throughout the week and I appreciate all your comments, even if I am not responding!

Back to this not being allowed to read thing again.  The point of this exercise is to clear my mind of everyone else's words and images so that I may have original ideas of my own and get inspired to write.  Now, I think that notion is a very brilliant one indeed, but not one that seems to be working for me.  Early on in the week, I did have an epiphany where a story idea struck me as I was walking to work with Dave.  I got to work and frantically wrote in point form the plot of the story and was very excited to begin writing it.  But then....nothing.  Instead I found myself cross-stitching, or sewing, or baking cookies, or torturing myself by staring at your blog entries on my dashboard and...well, you know all about that.  What I am trying to say here is that I think I work in quite the opposite way, and I get my inspiration from what I read.  The amazing blogs I follow, the awesome books I read, even just the random articles and pieces of writing I come across on a daily basis, these all work to inspire me.  So, the exercise has worked so far by giving me a good idea (hopefully) for a story, but I have been falling flat with the pen to paper thing because of lack of inspiration.

Last night I had a lot of sewing to catch up on, on account of tonight being my last sewing class and me being lazy.  Don't you worry though! I have signed up for the advanced class and will post my work from that too!  The skirt is almost done and the pictures are forthcoming: expect my mug to be in there as well, as one will not be able to appreicate the full cuteness of the skirt unless it's on a body.  I am happy to be that body.

My plan was to write a bit last night, if not the new story then at least on my blog, but I became very sidetracked with the sewing, the sitting on the couch-ing, and the watching of MTV's 16 and Pregnant.  Why you ask?  I don't know.  The roundness of their bellies was hypnotizing....or it could have been the fact that I had just consumed a delicious pasta dish with a bacon butter sauce adorning every wonderful morsel.  Bacon AND butter.  Wow.  My arteries are clogging just thinking about it, but it is so good.  And because I care about your health and well-being, I am going to pass the recipe on to you, my friends.  I would not feel good about myself if I didn't.  Because it has bacon AND butter in it.

Bacon Butter Pasta Sauce

Ingredients:
-bacon
-garlic (minced)
-butter
-canned crushed tomato
-dried herbs: rosemary, basil, thyme (or any combination you prefer)
-salt and pepper

In a medium sized saucepan, fry a few pieces of bacon.  I used 2 or 3 pieces and this is enough for two servings.  Once your bacon is crispy, remove from the pan and drain on paper towel.  Lower the heat under your pan.  This would be a good time to start your pasta as well, as the next part does not take long.

Add a pat of butter directly to the pan.  Once it has melted, add the minced garlic and saute in butter until it becomes translucent.  Once this has occured, add another pat of butter, and a large tablespoon of canned crushed tomato. Add your dried herbs, and the salt and pepper to taste (a pinch each!).

If you do not think there is enough liquid to cover your pasta, add a little more butter.  Once it is at the desired amount of liquid, crumble up the bacon into the sauce.  Let simmer for one minute.  Pour over your drained favorite pasta, stir and enjoy!

Bon appetit!
